Christmas 2017

It was another busy December at Columbus. The month was filled with many festive events and activities.

We began our Advent journey with our annual Light Up for Christ event on December 5th. Residents, family, and friends shared a very spiritual evening of Scripture, prayer and hymns with our special guests, the Most Reverend Michael Miller, CSB Archbishop of Vancouver and the St. Patrick's 9AM Choir. The highlight of the evening was the illumination of our beautiful outdoor Christmas lights display. Thanks go out to Inder & Jerry of our Maintenance department and our many volunteers for braving the cold weather to put up our annual Christmas lights display for this special event.

Resident, family, friends and staff celebrated the holiday season together at our annual Family Night on December 14th. We welcomed the "Beauty Shop Dolls" who entertained us with favourite Christmas songs for everyone to enjoy.

Throughout the month of December we celebrated the joys of the Christmas season with special events large and small. Whether it was a large group program or simply spending one to one time with someone special we are as ever, thankful to all of our family, friends and staff for creating a welcoming, warm and loving atmosphere for all of our residents this past Christmas.

Volunteers Needed to Help Take Down Christmas Lights January 13th

What goes up must come down! We need volunteers to help us take down the many strings of outside Christmas lights. Our scheduled "un-decorating day" is Saturday January 13th from 9am to 2pm.

Volunteers should be prepared for rain or shine! Lunch will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up at our Front Office or call us during regular office hours (Ext 100).

Prepare Yourself for Flu Season

Flu Season Precautions

It is now flu season. Residents and staff have received their vaccines. Family and friends who have not yet received their annual flu vaccination are strongly encouraged to do so.

Like last year, we will be asking visitors to to adhere to our flu protection policy. For the duration of flu season, visitors who have NOT received their flu vaccination will be asked to wear a mask while they are in the building. Masks are available at the Front Reception or from the 2nd Floor Nurse.

Please remember to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when entering the building, and again when leaving and if you have any cold or flu symptoms, please do not visit until you are free from symptoms for 48 hours.
