Meals & Dining

Delicious Meals!
Resident Amy enjoys a slice of pie at “Cafe Corner”

Mealtimes are a highlight of our daily community life. Not only is it time to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal, but also a chance to socialize with fellow residents.

The main meal is served in the evening and includes a hot entree, vegetable and a starch such as potato, rice or noodles. Lunch is a lighter meal and usually includes one of our delicious home-made soups (a specialty of our cooks). An alternate entree is available. Breakfast is served in the dining room each morning and for those residents who prefer to sleep in, a light breakfast of muffins, coffee, tea and juice is available in the lounges of the care floors later in the morning.

Residents are assigned tables in the Dining Room to assist in the distribution of both medication and meals. Table assignments take into consideration the residents’ preferences and friendships with other residents.

We encourage residents to participate in our monthly Food Advisory meetings to ensure that our menu continues to reflect their choices.

Our dietitian meets with each resident shortly after the resident moves in. The dietician assesses individual dietary needs, records likes and dislikes, and monitors to ensure individual nutritional needs are being met.

Our four-week menu cycle changes twice per year to take advantage of seasonal ingredients. We are proud of the fact that all of our meals and many of our baked items are made “in-house” by our own cooks, all of whom are formally trained with many years of experience working in a residential care setting.

Our Fall & Winter menu is in place from September to March. Our Spring & Summer menu is in place from April to September. Click on the links to the right to enlarge and view our full seasonal menus:

Special Events and Guest Meals

Pub Time
Parties in our Dining Room are enjoyed by residents and families alike!

Throughout the year we celebrate the holidays and other special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day and Christmas with special menus. Special treats and menus are also featured throughout the year at annual events such as our Summer Barbecue and Christmas Family Night.

Residents may invite family and friends to join them for a meal. Guest meals may be purchased through our Front Office or deducted directly from the resident’s comfort fund if that is more convenient. We appreciate 24 hours advance notice for all guest meals. Family and friends are welcome to join residents at our daily afternoon tea at any time (no advance notice required).

Canada Day
Sweet treats for Canada Day!

Families may also make arrangements to use our Resident Kitchen if they wish to prepare their own meal for a resident.

Our Activity Room is also available for larger family functions. Advance notice is required for use of our Resident Kitchen and Activity Room as these rooms are frequently used for scheduled Recreation programs.
